We Are Penn State!

My mother’s side of the family are hardcore Penn State fans, this was actually the first logo I “slimed” before I decided I wanted to become an expert in mutating everything into dripping perversions.

Millersville Rugby

I was asked to redesign the Millersville Rugby logo for t-shirts and other merchandise. It hasn’t happened yet, those guys like to party. But as part of the logo redesign (the original a crude drawing of a player running with a rugby ball tucked under his right arm and a frothy mug of beer in his left hand) I came up with a type treatment which conveys the idea that they’re tough and a little beaten up, but they’re still standing tall, or some crap like that.

Herb Elsner’s Towing

Logo design for Herb Elsner’s Towing. Along with designing the type treatment, Herb had me draw him up in the style of the great Ed Roth, father of the notoriously raunchy Rat Fink. This was illustrated full size, 30 inches across.

In Focus Media

A logo I designed for Jason Miller for his production company, In Focus Media. Hand drawn letters for ‘in focus’. I’m still waiting for him to put me in one of his movies…

JCK Contracting

A logo designed for JCK Contracting. We couldn’t decide on which banner to use, so we went with all of them. Hand drawn letters for ‘JCK’. This logo was designed for business cards, t-shirts & hats, and vehicle lettering so I had to keep in mind during the process of refining it that it would need to be attractive at all sizes.

Art  Studio Gallery

While working at Lisa LeLeu Studios I designed the logo for what would become Lisa LeLeu’s Art Studio Gallery. It was designed with the idea in mind that it could be applied to a line of educational toys for kids. In this case, it was designed for the Door Easel, which I also helped design the packaging for! Below is the final logo and two of the rejected ones.

Katits ‘K’

I’m a big fan of handdrawn type, this is my personal logo. It’s a K!

Guys Read is an online non-profit organization that gets kids interested in reading in new and fun ways. Statistically, boys are less inclined to start reading when they’re young than girls. This campaign is designed to spark the imagination of our future in a cool way, because reading IS cool, especially when the characters manifest themselves into your own shadow and start reading with you!

Frumpled Fairy Tales

The Town and Country Players are a non-profit community theater based in Buckingham, PA. They asked me to design a poster for their upcoming show entitled “Frumpled Fairy Tales”. I was given free reign to develop a family-friendly illustration style and layout as long as I included the three main characters: Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin and Little Red Riding Hood. I was given a week to complete it and it was also used for the programs for the show.

While working at Lisa LeLeu Studios in Doylestown, PA, I got to work on their second board game creation “Made Ya Laugh!”. Under Lisa’s supervision, I was faced with the duties of designing the entire game including the layout, color scheme and characters. So much fun!

Palmer Chocolates “Mad Snow Balls” packaging

A preliminary design for a line of holiday candy for Palmer Chocolates designed while at Lisa LeLeu Studios. Among the many thumbnails, sketches, computer comps, and rejects was one of the final designs: Mad Snow Balls. I designed the layout, illustrated the penguin snow fight and all the individual faces on the candies, and the type treatment, under the supervision of Lisa LeLeu. Sadly, this design was not picked, millions of potential customers are now deprived of delicious chocolate goodness!

These illustrations are inspired by the opening lines of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. “Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?!” Hunter S. Thompson lived his life the way most of us wish we could. I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t be afraid to take a step into the unknown. Just make sure you bring a spare pair of underwears!

Dudnyk Advertising: Wash away the “Eyetis Monster”

Dudnyk Advertising commissioned me to draw a disgusting, revolting, puss-filled, crusty, irritated, lazy, gross, mindless, slow-mannered creature of epic proportions capturing the essence of a disease called “blepharitis”, an ocular condition characterized by chronic inflammation of the eyelid. I came up with this as part of a campaign to promote Azasite, the drug that promises to “wash away the ‘Eyetis Monster”.

Singin’ in the rain, just singin’ in the-BRAINS! I find no greater enjoyment in life then when I’m poking fun at something. Needless to say, I REALLY enjoyed turning the Morton Salt umbrella girl into a walking sack of rotting meat. I’ve taken detailed mental notes on the original logo, so go ahead, compare.

“The Brainfeast Club”

They only met once, but it changed their afterlives forever… I love the 80′s. I don’t think there’s been a better decade for film. I’m sure millions agree that The Breakfast Club holds a special place in their heart no matter what generation you’re from. So as an homage to a great film from a great decade (debatable for some), I’ve started work on a  zombie concept that I plan on coloring in and using as a poster to promote Klime Co. I also plan on having it silk screened on a skateboard, t-shirt, and made into stickers. So, wuddaya think?
