This is the place where I only talk about myself. So if you don’t want to know anything about me then BUZZ OFF! Just kidding… but seriously, my name is Mike. I’m a graphic designer… NO! I’m an illustrator… no.. I’m an illustraphicologist with a PhD in…. Ok, lemme start over. Hi I’m Mike and I like to draw pictures and I hope you like them! Ok that’s pretty good.
Anyway, welcome to KlimeCo.com. Here, you will find the disjointed ramblings and disembodied manifestations of what I like to call the inside of my head. If you haven’t already come to conclusion that I like music, movies, the 80′s, zombies, slime, joking, grossing you out, or pretty much anything else the mind of an 8 year-old in the body of a 25 year-old would dig on, well then I guess I need to rethink some things…
I hale from the beautiful town of Doylestown in Bucks County, PA, a suburb of Philly. After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration I embarked on a journey to obtain the American Dream and… get a job… wait.. no. I wanted to find a place where I could grow as a designer and… yea… that’s not true either. I basically wanted to make awesome art because that’s what I’ve been trying to do since I was born. It’s my calling. I think. So after graduation (which if I had a chance to do all over, I would have stayed in college forever, so would you, don’t lie) I got a job working for Pulse Weekly which helped me hone in on my layout skills but still gave me the freedom to be as creative as I could at a small newspaper in Allentown. While there, I picked up a freelance gig at Lisa LeLeu Studios in my home town of Doylestown. Juggling two jobs at once would become kind of a necessity in these dark economic times (as I would soon find out). Lisa’s was great because I learned how to be a real designer in a real design studio environment. Seeing projects from beginning to end and working with a team to complete products you see on the shelves of the toy stores where you buy your kid’s toys.
After Pulse proved to be too far, and Lisa no longer needed my services I became a screen printer at DJB Specialties in Chalfont, PA., meanwhile working as a freelance designer for companies like Dudnyk Advertising and The Town and Country Players. While learning the ropes at DJB, I found a place that seemed to be a great fit for me, the sign industry. This would be National Signs in Feasterville, PA. I’ve worked there for a year and I love it. I have a strong relationship with my boss and the other people I work with and it just comes natural creating work you can feel proud of. I’ve been able to master our giant Mutoh printer, become best friends with our vinyl plotter and designed signs and logos for companies that have shaped their business in a positive way despite this crappy job market.
All in all, I feel that life is too short to waste on anything other than what makes you happy. And if you can bring some people with you along for the ride, well my friend, the time you spend on this earth will be well worth the price of the ticket.
So if I haven’t rambled on enough (I told you I do that) and you have somewhat of an idea of me, please contact me, I’m available for freelance projects like whoa!
